Application

A software program or group of programs that allows a user to perform specific tasks like graphic design or database management. Applications can not run on a computer without an operating system.

Bandwidth  

Bandwidth refers to the amount of information that can be transmitted over a network such as the Internet in a certain amount of time.

Binary Digit  

Binary digit or bit for short is the smallest unit of measuring information on the computer. A single bit can only hold two values, 0 and 1, by combining bits together you can get more information.

Bit is abbreviation for binary digit.

Bits per Second (bps)  

Bits per second or bps for short is the speed by which a modem can transfer a file via the Internet. For example, a 28.8K modem transfers files at 28,800 bps.

Browser or web browser for short is a tool (program) that allows you to surf the Internet. It interprets text, graphics, sound and video, allowing you to view websites and navigate the Internet. Byte is a measurement of digital data capable of holding a single charter. 1 byte=8 bits.

Cache is a place on your computer to store something more or less temporarily. Web pages you’ve visited are often stored in your browser’s cache directory on your hard disk, making it easier for you to find specific pages that you visit on a regular basis.

Cookie  

A cookie is a very small text file placed on your hard drive by a web page server. It is essentially your identification card, and cannot be executed as code or deliver viruses. It is uniquely yours and can only be read by the server that gave it to you.
